The Little Ones (Poem)
Do You see the ones of little kindness
suffering from intolerable highness?
Lord, let me submit and surrender daily,
always advancing, never retreating.
Resting assured in the knowledge
the Enemy's oppression is but fleeting.
And humbly apply the gifts of the Spirit
to resist the belief in the power of me
so from depths of despair I may flee.
Do You hear the ones of little faith
defiled by words the deceiver saith?
Resisting the prideful ignorance
concerning my limited ability,
Holy Spirit guide me to comprehend
Your grace comes by humility.
Freely I receive and freely I give
attaining illumination of the Word
and my convictions be stirred.
Do You know the ones of little hope
sadly sliding down the slippery slope?
You are the Giver and Father of time
and the Omnipotent Owner of forever.
Patiently guiding in every moment
therefore, I may never say, You never.
The world will turn by your command
and be subject to Your Throne.
So the afflicted may know, they are not alone.
Do You take pity on the ones of little trust
hindered by desires after which they lust?
Winters may come, and winters may go
yet I shall find comfort in convictions.
Holding fast onto every ounce of faith
not to be overcome by my afflictions.
You faithfully provide needful things
when Your Kingdom, I faithfully seek
causing my wicked heart to stay meek.
Do You pray for the ones of little humility
who depend on the greatness of their ability?
You ordain and establish by might
so every event may come to pass.
You are the God who knows the end
of those who are to wither like grass.
Turn not Your ear from my sincere plea
that I may dwell in dependence all my days
in Your omniscient presence to praise.
Do You see the ones of little joy
bowing to lies that will ultimately destroy?
Treading with courage where you command
the broad road to perdition, not to find.
The undeserved love and grace which chose
that I may turn away from the blind.
Carrying me through doubts and destruction
towards the heart of Your holiness.
And comforting me in unbearable loneliness.
Do You hear the ones of little peace
refusing to let envy and strife cease?
You are faithful, and You are true
protecting my vulnerable heart,
so an unbelieving world may see
You are the Lord of the new start.
Committed to the whole of Your Word
straying not left, nor the right
and defeating deception, not losing sight.
Do You know the ones of little content
and despite provision, still lament?
Through faith and by Your grace
I am awake and I’m standing tall
so when a sacrifice is due,
I may heed Your call.
Not conforming to a naked state
but waiting for righteous clothing
sanctified in heaven, never late.
Do You take pity on the ones of little goodness
never reaching Christ’s fullness?
Behold His Spirit burning from within
giving light to a world defiled by sin.
So the lost may have their chance
to repent and His redemption may begin.
His yoke is easy and the burden light
and for the few who find the narrow way
forever in His presence, they will stay.
Father God, have mercy on the ones of little love
not yielding to Your Spirit, coming down like a dove.
