The Walk (Poem)

The prince of perdition feasts on weakness,

since flesh was formed in God’s uniqueness.

And perpetual pursuit of pleasures and power,

pollutes, so sinners are lost to the hour.

Wandering in the expanse of desolation,

and judging the saved; rejecting restoration.

Those days relying in the power of me,

worldly significance bound me to agree.

By the father of lies I had been betrayed,

a deceiver enticing me to remain swayed.

But His undeserved mercy and grace

kept this servant longing the embrace;

with love and faithfulness a tainted failure,

so submission started the change in behaviour.

Called because He loved His children first,

never leaving them to succumb to thirst.

Therefore, behold One with the power

to accomplish ways in the darkest hour.

And while the deceived worship desire,

eternal life is the believer's wish to acquire.

So when hopelessness hinders your walk,

know the Saviour listens when believers talk.

And through meditation in His infallible Word,

seek truth to remain renewed and stirred.

For it is wisdom in the Word, discerning deceit;

providing the path away from the eternal heat.

So, seize tribulations through which faith form,

to overcome the consuming locust swarm.

And when ridiculed by friend and foe,

stand on the Word, and forgive every blow.

For Christ works mightily in the wicked heart,

and His grace on the lost may instantly impart.

So when a tenderness emanates from a neighbour,

recognise the Saviour and accept all toil and labour.

Christ reveals the purpose of the righteous inferior,

so they may experience the providence of the Superior.

And though God is slow to anger and none is to perish,

the condition is to repent and His Word to cherish.

Passionately proclaim His name to the ends of the earth,

because His sacrifice accomplishes the new birth.
